I wondered, many times, that the same person who in private life realizes complex projects, as an employee turns out to be quite helpless and waiting for detailed guidelines from his superior. I used to work in various organizations and also met this syndrome, I felt uneasy, afraid of punishment, preferring to wait for guidance from the supervisor even it was far away from perfection, I was following it, because it was safer.

You may know the story of the four monkeys they were in the room equipped with strong jets of cold water. In the middle of the room there was a ladder and hung above it a bunch of plump bananas.
It was enough to climb up the ladder to reach the treat. But when any monkey tried to do it a cold stream of water pushed her down, making her ilk wet also.
After several attempts monkeys gave up and sat dejected. Then the experimenters removed from the cage one of them in its place they put a new monkey who did not know about the wet danger. This monkey immediately tried to climb the ladder, but her three colleagues attracted her from it by imposing additional appropriate penalty.
From this moment spray was no longer needed.
Gradually changed the next monkey. As it turned out those who have never known the pouring of cold water were the strongest defenders again any access to the ladder.
At the end of the experiment, in the room were only monkeys they were never showered. And they guarded each other. Thus was born the corporate culture.

In our world, good and evil, punishment and reward are obvious concepts, to the point that people majority can not imagine there it is any possibility to build a well-functioning society without judgment and punishment.
Starting from childhood we are accustomed to live in a more or less permanent but fear. The universality of this phenomenon makes it invisible, so this fear state is a norm.
But this is not the proper norm for our body. It is obvious knowledge of long-term stress negative impact, which limits creativity, discretion and mindfulness. We become less or more robotic, and our body subjected to repeated stress exhausts its energy resources. Prolonged stress in a different way destroys our bodies leading to psychosomatic illnesses.

Is there a way out of this situation?
Three times in my career I found myself in another world, every time I contributed to its creation.

People felt safe and trust each other. The work was not biblical difficulty and toil, but exciting adventure. People are not only talking about it but confirmed that by the extraordinary effects of their actions. Ingenuity and unique nature of solutions allow to obtain results exceeding expectations.

Work is love made visible.

I was also a part of it, and this experience left me a memorable track with the dream of a return to “another world” preferably forever.

You can, therefore, imagine how much I was impressed by Fredercka Laloux book “Reinventing Organisatons”, which shows a well-functioning organizations without formal managers, in which all employees are empowered to make decisions and non-standard measures, as it does in their private life. In this book, I found final confirmation of methods they enable creation of such organizations. This is not utopia, such organizations exist, some of them contain thousands of employees and effectively compete in the market.

 

The methodology for the creation of the world “without fear” fits perfectly NVC (Nonviolent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg), especially used in communication and conflict resolution.
